Censorship and religious discrimination are alive and well. And, sadly, such injustices span the entire globe. In this case a top Russian geneticist was fired because he claimed people used to have long lifespans prior to Noah’s Flood, living more than 900 years. Unthinkable!
Alexander Kudryavtsev, head of the Russian Academy of Science’s Vavilov Institute of General Genetics, believes that the biblical book of Genesis, which records the ages of people like Noah, who lived 950 years, is true history. Many scientists agree, so he’s not alone. However, these scientists, if they work for secular institutions, are often fired for voicing their beliefs, and Kudryavtsev is no exception; his claim, while acceptable in some religious circles, goes against the modern scientific paradigm. Hence, he had to be fired and made an example of for deviating.
Interestingly, if we listen to mainstream scientists- those who don’t believe the Bible’s claims- they would tell you that no “real” scientist believes in a global flood or people living more than 900 years. However, when real scientists do express such beliefs, they’re censored for voicing their opinion. Why? To maintain the false impression that no real scientist believes such things, even though they do.
Genesis 5 lists the ages of biblical figures who lived prior to Noah’s Flood, including Adam, who lived 930 years. This may surprise those unfamiliar with Genesis, as this is a foreign concept for many. I was shocked the first time I read this. But, if we seriously consider whether people could have lived so long in the distant past, the evidence begins to stack up, especially if we understand genetics.
Parents pass their genetic information (DNA) along to their children. However, that information isn’t always copied perfectly. Mistakes are made; mutations occur. That makes us mutants, and that’s one reason why humanity has accumulated so many genetic diseases. But it hasn’t always been this way. If we trace our DNA backwards in time, it’s inevitable that our ancestors would have had fewer mutations. And if we go back far enough- all the way to the beginning, Adam and Eve would have had no mutations. God created them from the dust of the ground. So they wouldn’t have inherited any genetic copying errors- because they weren’t born. They were created in the image of God.
Further, when God sent a global flood, only Noah, his wife, and their three sons and their wives entered the ark- eight lives in all. Therefore, when they stepped off the ark a year later, there were no other humans left. This created a bottleneck where all the genetic information was lost. So all modern humans are descended from these three lines- Shem, Ham and Japheth. Their children, therefore, would have been closely related, and all this is one reason why we don’t live as long as our distant ancestors.
The really cool thing is, the scientific evidence confirms this. Other scientists, like Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson, show that, by tracing mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), we know that all humanity is related to three major people groups, and this coincides with the biblical timeline. Even more amazing, evolutionists (Ann Gibbons) recognize this happened about 6,000 years ago!
It’s sad when science is censored for stepping out of line and speaking a forbidden truth. This goes to show that science isn’t always about gaining knowledge, but more about indoctrination.
I believe Alexander Kudryavtsev, a top scientist, was correct. He’s an example that real scientists do believe in God and the Bible. And that’s why he was fired. It’s also religious discrimination.
Censorship is an ugly thing as it silences debate. Many people have championed the free expression of ideas and academic freedom. Others strive to silence descent. Why? Because they want everyone to only agree with them, and censorship is the path to that end. They may even provide a rationale, stating that they want to stop lies or dangerous information. But who gets to make that determination? Could it be those who are guilty of spreading lies and dangerous information? That’s the rub.
If we truly love science and knowledge, then leave it to each person to study the data and form their own opinion… no matter how wrong they are. Then it’s up to the rest of us to provide a persuasive argument and challenge them. That’s the best way for science to advance. The firing of geneticist Alexander Kudryavtsev undermines science, silences debate, and halts the expansion of knowledge.

Truth. Few people really understand what it is or where it comes from.
Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
