It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on climate change, so now seems like as good a time as any to catch up. For now I’ll focus on this article from Phys.Org. The headline states, “New research suggests plants might be able to absorb more CO2 from human activities than previously expected.”
I find this odd because we’ve known this for many decades, and I’ve been writing about it for years. In fact Dutch biologist Jan Ingenhousz discovered photosynthesis in 1779 and explained how plants keep us alive. And Swiss botanist Jean Senebier discovered that plants absorb carbon dioxide in 1796. So why are some researchers only finding this out now, and why was it so unexpected?
To start, the climate change issue has been controversial for decades, to say the least. At first it was described as global cooling, but when that was refuted, they switched to global warming. But when little warming occurred for more than two decades, and expert predictions failed, the alarmists changed the language again, referring to it as climate change. After all, who would deny that the climate changes?
Of course the climate changes. The climate on earth has been changing for as long as the planet has existed. And life has thrived, particularly when it was much warmer in the past. Consider, Antarctica was once a tropical rainforest. Thus, it should be obvious that climate change is predominantly a natural process. The man-made component has been greatly exaggerated for political purposes. So, instead of fearing change, or trying to stop the climate from changing (which we can’t do), a better solution is to adapt. We adapt every time the season changes from spring, summer, fall and winter, so it can be done.
Unfortunately, while the science confirms the benefits plants provide, the author warns us not to celebrate! Seriously, the researchers don’t want world governments to stop taking action, despite learning how they’ve been duped into spending billions of dollars unnecessarily based on misinformation. The researchers say, “simply planting trees will not solve all our problems. We absolutely need to cut down emissions from all sectors. Trees alone cannot offer humanity a get out of jail free card.”
So they squelch any optimism as quickly as possible while instilling as much panic and fear as possible, calling for more government action. Politics.
One major problem with this approach is that we lose freedom. Consider, world governments are controlling the cars we drive, the kind of fuel we use, the food we eat, how we cook our food, how we warm ourselves, etc. Further, it’s a mistake to think they have our best interest in mind. They don’t.
I’m surprised this message about plants negating human activity is even out there, as this kind of information is usually suppressed, and I think that’s the reason why these researchers are shocked. It’s not like this information wasn’t available to them.
The science is clear: “more realistic ecological modeling suggests the world’s plants may be able to take up more atmospheric CO2 from human activities than previously predicted.” Still, I’d argue that the predictions already existed. It’s just that they weren’t listening.
In fact, Dr. Jurgen Knauer admits many researchers have “commonly ignored” how plants absorb carbon dioxide and distribute their nutrients throughout the environment. He says “Plants take up a substantial amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) every year, thereby slowing down the detrimental effects of climate change”. Thus, he refers to photosynthesis as a “natural climate change mitigator”.
My take is that there’s no cause for alarm, even if the climate is changing. Mankind has adapted to just about every climate on the planet. Humans live in some of the harshest environments, from Antarctica to deserts, to jungles and forests, cities, mountains, islands, in space, and even on the sea and below the sea. Someday we may even find human colonies on the moon and Mars. If we can survive these conditions, then we can survive anywhere. The bottom line is that planet earth is robust and self-regulating, designed and fine-tuned by God with its own climate controls to accommodate billions of people across the globe. Further, a little warming may be a good thing for mankind, as fewer people will freeze to death from the cold, which is a greater killer than heat.

The real agenda if pretty clear if one considers that carbon and its various molecular arrangements is the foundation of organic chemistry, the study of the stuff of life.
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, you’re spot on!
The first thing to look at in space expeditions is THE EXISTENCE OF WATER.
The plant layer that has covered planet Earth for billions of years, in addition to helping REGULATE the global temperature, is also responsible for HYDRATING the earth and CREATING water sheets to maintain the LIFE of all the variety of plants to feed common animals and humans – fauna, and flora.
The planet’s entire forests, millennial forests like the Amazon, for example, are being DEVASTATED on an INDUSTRIAL SCALE, like NEVER before, because, now, there are MACHINES to tear them down, for commercial timber exploitation, subsoil mineral exploration, and grain cultivation and livestock pasture (NOT for domestic economy or local subsistence, but for commercial exploitation and enrichment of some).
NO TREES = NO WATER = NO LIFE = END
Simple like this.
It doesn’t need to be a scientist to look and see.
It is sad to see the environment being polluted, and trees disappearing. As Christians, we should be good stewards of our planet.
Yes, it should! Not just for the obvious question of everyone’s survival but for ETHICAL reasons of life preservation.
However, the Creator predicted this time of the END with the recurring moral decline of people, the increase in science and inventions, and the devastation of the environment due to ambition and greed.
DEVASTATION also occurs in the OCEANS.
Mountains of plastic waste are dumped into the oceans, polluting, poisoning, and killing animals, and sterilizing the organic properties of the seas, which produce OXYGEN and also regulate global temperatures.
ISLANDS OF PLASTIC GARBAGE in the oceans are also a recent phenomenon in the cycle of CONSUMERISM DEPREDATION of modern post-industrial civilization: extraction, manufacturing, and disposal, AD INFINITUM.
The UTOPIA of damage-minimizing reverse re-engineering and post-disposal recycling is still dragging on, it hasn’t even begun to crawl.
RECYCLING should be and REVERSE ENGINEERING of products as common a process as going to the store to buy them!
